Towards a smarter and more scalable whole
For Ahola Digital, 2025 was a year of strategic focus. Digital solutions play an increasingly integral role in the Group’s day-to-day operations, and Ahola Digital is more clearly evolving into a service organisation that supports the entire Ahola Group. The goal of the development work is to strengthen the company’s long-term competitiveness and support business operations with solutions that improve reliability, safety and efficiency.
Ahola Digital’s operations were streamlined by clarifying the organisational structure and targeting resources toward the Group’s key tasks. The changes improve our responsiveness and enable systematic development well into the future. The goal is to provide the Group with solutions that are easy to maintain, scalable and support operational needs.
AI and automation as drivers of change
Digitalisation has become increasingly prominent in our operations. The industry is undergoing a transition in which technological solutions are shaping daily tasks. A few years ago, there was still a lot of talk about and expectations related to artificial intelligence, but by 2025, the development had progressed to a concrete level. AI’s capabilities have clearly improved, and the outcome of its use has also started to show in daily life.
Our goal is to leverage AI where it adds value and frees up resources from routine tasks. We estimate that the use of AI and automation can help save working hours, especially in administrative and technical tasks. The development allows expertise to be targeted to tasks where human skills, judgement and experience have the greatest impact.
The utilisation of artificial intelligence is concretised in the AI camera application we piloted last year as part of the Group’s safety and automation development. The solution combines camera technology, AI and backend systems, and it is used in critical transportation stages.
ERP development progressing as planned
The renewal of the Group’s ERP system is progressing according to schedule. The system will be implemented in parallel with the current system in the course of 2026, and the goal is for the entire system to be ready by the end of 2027. This is a significant development project that aims to build a harmonised and modern foundation for the Group’s operations.
Through the system, we manage, among other things, the gate controls at our cargo centres, surveillance camera solutions and our customer and partner portals. It is built to be technically and architecturally easy to maintain, which is important in an operating environment like ours, where technologies change rapidly.
Development work continues
The role of AI, automation and scalable systems will grow in the future. Ahola Digital’s goal is to build secure and reliable digital solutions that support Ahola’s operations today and create strong capabilities for the needs of tomorrow.
